Being with each other – for me, that’s the key element of board gaming. When you get that occasional person who openly tells you they see board games as “sad”, I feel a bit sad that they don’t get it. Cabin in the Woods is better than that. Sure, it lists out the cliches — the things we love about horror movies —, but it gives them context. And not in some po-faced way either. It’s got convictions and goddamn if it doesn’t follow through on them. Asked if he had any plans for a sequel, director Drew Goddard answered “Have you seen the ending to my movie?”
